When the radar is Mission Critical you can count on us.
Weather Detection Systems was awarded the contract to modernize the weather surveillance radar onboard the Sea Launch Commander Ship.
Sea Launch is a multinational spacecraft launch service that uses a mobile maritime launch platform for equatorial launches of commercial payloads on specialized Zenit-3SL rockets. Payloads can exceed $400,000,000 and the onboard weather radar is mission critical to the success of each and every launch. The radar had to meet stringent launch criteria standards.
Launches from the equator in the Pacific ocean depend 100% on the systems onboard ship. There is no NEXRAD radar data for back-up. Self-calibration, performance, and reliability were absolute requirements without compromise.
